Attorneys for the family of Alton Sterling filed a lawsuit against the City of Baton Rouge, the Baton Rouge Police Department, its police chief and two police officers earlier today, The Advocate reports. Sterling was killed by Officer Blane Salamoni last summer outside a Baton Rouge convenience store.

The suit filed claims “the shooting fit a pattern of racist behavior and excessive force by its police force,” according to The Advocate.
