The metro areas were ranked on scales such as median household income and salary required for a monthly mortgage. Baton Rouge came in at No. 87, with lesser affordable cities ranking at lower numbers on the scale. Baton Rouge’s affordability gap, which is median income vs. needed income to buy a home, came in at $40,785.
