Baton Rouge Zoo wants inspection following tiger’s death Wednesday

Following the unexpected death of a Malayan tiger last Wednesday, the Baton Rouge Zoo wants to undergo an inspection, according to the Greater Baton Rouge Business Report. The zoo voluntarily reached out to the United States Department of Agriculture for the inspection.

“This death was much unexpected,” says Dr. Gordon Pirie, the zoo’s veterinarian, according to The Business Report. “Just earlier that afternoon, we were performing routine rounds with a LSU veterinary intern and she appeared to be exhibiting normal behavior and in great health.”
