Campus Beats – 1.27.16

DIG Magazine’s campus staff dishes on what they’re listening to this week:

Rickey Miller, Campus Editor
“Exchange”
Bryson Tiller
T R A P S O U L

I love this song! I probably listen to it about 10 times or more a day. Bryson Tiller’s lyrics are so clever and thought-out. In fact, the entire album is a must listen. It’s the type of album you won’t skip any songs. Exchange is definitely relatable and will definitely put you in your feelings.

“Roses”
The Chainsmokers
BOUQUET

This is my favorite song at the moment because it instantly puts me in a happy mood! It is catchy but not in an annoying way. It can be a chill song or a pregame song.

“White Iverson”
Post Malone
SINGLE – WHITE IVERSON

My favorite song right now is White Iverson. I just like it because it’s a really chill song to listen to. His voice is also very captivating!

Emily Fruge, Campus Writer
“Stressed Out”
Twenty One Pilots
BLURRYFACE

It’s a good song for almost anything. I love to listen to it when I run, when I’m driving around, or just when I’m getting ready in the morning. Its unique because it’s different from every other song I’ve listen to.

“Gin in My System”
Big Freedia
BIG FREEDIA HITZ VOL. 1

Let’s keep it 10 more than 90: New Orleans is Mardi Gras, and bounce is the music of New Orleans. The genre is all a riff on the Triggerman beat, and that genre has influenced every hip hop artist in New Orleans, from Lil Wayne to Jay Electronica. The queen of Bounce – and the Krewe de Vieux this year – Big Freedia has plenty of hits, but my personal favorite is “Gin in My System.” The refrain has made its way to countless rappers in the South, and is impossible to not dance to. Seriously, you could get a room full of nuns to get on their hands and get it clappin’ to this early Freedia cut.
