Rye tell readers how she showcases her personal style while transitioning into a night of mixing music.
DIG: How would you describe your personal style?
Mariah Gewin: Labeling genres is more my forte, but I call it RYE style. In fashion terms, it’s been dubbed Boho Chic.
DIG: You have many activities and job titles, one being a DJ: what is your go-to outfit to transition into a night of spinning tracks?
MG: When I have little time on my hands, my go to is a simple distressed tank with a bralette underneath and a pair of jeggings. It’s simple, but I can convey my musical style easier with a less distracting outfit.
DIG: How do you dress for a night as a DJ?
MG: My first thought when putting an outfit together is comfort. I’m usually playing anywhere from an hour to five hours straight, and I handle my own equipment, which is really heavy! Dressing comfortable and achieving my style is pretty easy though, because I’m usually in oversized shirts and jeggings or my favorite boyfriend cut jeans. Add a pair of cute sandals or gritty combat boots, and you’ve got yourself a comfortable and stylish outfit.
DIG: Who do you look to for style inspiration?
MG: Free People is my all time favorite clothing line and store. I cannot tell you how many Free People Instagram accounts I follow.
DIG: What is your favorite way to accessorize an ensemble?
MG: If I feel daring, I’ll sometimes add extra layers to my outfit to see what interesting shapes I can get. To balance it out, it’s guaranteed I’ll add a hat. I’m a hat addict!
