Dearman’s to reopen following damaging fire

Dearman’s, a Baton Rouge restaurant that served the community for more than 58 years, is reopening following a fire that damaged its building in March, The Advocate reports.

“Everybody’s happy,” Dearman’s owner David Van Gelder said, according to The Advocate. “We’re very pleased with the shopping center owners and we’re very grateful for the outpouring of support from the community.”

Van Gelder is planning for Dearman’s to be open by Sept. 1.
