Wherever your heart lies, there’s a restaurant in Baton Rouge that’s cooking up a Valentine’s Day dinner that will suit your style. Whether your idea of a good time is a four–course love fest or a decadent wine menu, if any town embraces how to say “Be Mine,” it’s BR.
Starting off with some classy spots to spice up the night, DIG has the lowdown on some Valentine’s specials running at some of BR’s fine night dining options that could make the difference for your special night. Be sure to call in advance to set up a reservation and check pricing.
Quality steaks and romance abound at Sullivan’s as they host their Valentine’s Day 3-course dinner for the night. Although reservations are full for both Saturday and Sunday, there are still openings for Friday night. With special offerings each day leading up to Valentine’s Day the menu will vary from day to day with each day offering a delicious chef special. Also, Sullivan’s will offer a deal on Monday for those who missed out on Valentine’s Day but still want a special something.
“We have the special features that we will offer on Thursday, Friday and Saturday before Valentine’s Day, and we are very excited to offer that,” said Sullivan’s Sales and Events Planner Kellie Tate. “We also have Love at First Course too [on Monday]…It’s a special way to continue celebrating Valentine’s Day for those who maybe had to work or couldn’t get a babysitter.”
Galatoire’s is whipping up something special for you and your special someone. Understanding that not everyone can make it out for Sunday night, they will be offering their Valentine’s special 3-course menu starting Friday until Sunday for dinner.
“All of the items are nothing that are on the regular entree menu, so they will be fresh and new to people who come here all the time,” said Galatoire’s Executive Chef Kelly McCann. “I would definitely recommend the Ribeye spinalis, which is a wonderful cut of meat that is kind of underutilized. We have made it viable to be able to put on a plate and make it look really good. That kind of meat is delicious.”
McCann also recommends for dessert their chocolate and strawberry tiramisu, which he is crafting especially for Valentine’s Day.
Ruffino’s is offering a 3-course meal option as well, however they will be hosting it throughout the day starting at lunch and going into dinner. The selections will vary from the standard menu and will be Chef Specials for each day. As of now, their prime time dinner reservations for Saturday and Sunday are full, but their lunch time special is open to reservations as well as times for 4:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. In addition they will be hosting a “Red Envelope” give away promotion during the weekend with prizes such as free dinners, bottles of wine and a Chef’s tasting at Ruffino’s for six people. Another thing Ruffino’s will be offering is a “take and make” 3-course meal kit for those looking to have a DIY intimate evening at home. With oyster and artichoke soup, beef tournedos and chocolate creme brulé you will have plenty of flavor.
“We are going to have our steaks and seafood specials,” said Ruffino’s General Manager Sean Byers. “We always run a lot of really creative specials that aren’t necessarily on the menu which we will be doing again these days and certainly would I recommend them as that’s when our chefs get to express their creativity and do some pretty neat stuff.”
For those looking for a more vino-centric intimate day or evening, you won’t have to worry about leaving the city. Baton Rouge has a good offering of wine bars and DIG can pop the cork on them for you.
Blend Wine Bar
Situated close to the river for a post drink romantic walk by the river, Blend also boasts a nice selection of wines. However, the main draw for Blend will definitely be its chill atmosphere and vibe. With its two story layout, and multiple couches set up on both levels, an intimate evening is definitely in store for those interested for a comfy, wine infused, relaxed evening.
For those looking for wine but also might want to dabble in some meal selection just in case, Bin 77 is hosting their 3-course Valentine’s Day menu. The menu comes with a choice of either creamy seafood risotto, braised short rib wellington or blackened rainbow trout as a main dish and is paired with a selection of Bin’s fine wines. Mix those two with the ambiance of romance and Bin 77 can help your V-Day be a Win Day.
The Melting Pot
Lastly, for those just looking to skip all the meals and get to what’s important, dessert, look no further than The Melting Pot. Although their menu allows for a selection of dip-able entrees, their chocolate fondue will make everything just melt away around you as you dip with a special someone.
