Event Details

The Herb Society of America, Baton Rouge Unit, proudly presents our third annual HERB DAY! This is a family-friendly event with hundreds of herb plants for sale, raffle prizes, vendors of jewelry and crafts, live music, food trucks, and more! Herb Day raises funds to complete the Herb Garden at the LSU AgCenter Botanic Gardens (one section is done – there will be 3 more added to complete it!).

Mini crash courses in the Conference Center:
9 a.m. – Raising Monarch Butterflies – Ken Bosso
10 a.m. – Companion Planting with Herbs – Kitty Bull
11 a.m. – Garden Tool Care and Sharpening – Richard Babin
12 – Herbs in Cocktails – Chef George Krause

Activities include a tea room with scones, shortbreads, and cookies for tasting herbal teas, herb classes, herbal products and hundreds of herb plants for sale propagated by the Capitol Area Native Plant Society. There will be an Herb “Petting Zoo” and other children’s activities to make this event fun for all ages. Merchants will be located in the Steele Burden Memorial Orangerie to sell homemade jellies and jams, gardening tools, art and more. Herb classes will start at 9:30 a.m. and continue every hour. Other local plant societies will be present to answer your gardening questions.

Admission is FREE.
