Event Details

Come to the Mid City Micro-Con to gear up for the release of Marvel’s Black Panther at the Main Library at Goodwood! This ‘marvel’ous Black Panther-themed event celebrates diversity in comic book characters, creators and their fans. We’ll highlight the range of voices in comics and fandom with discussion panels, a comics and arts market, cosplay, workshops, film screenings, games and prizes! Special guests include the creators of Tuskegee Heirs, comic artist and illustrator Marcus Williams and children’s book author Greg Burnham; prolific comic book inker Roland Paris, who has worked on Marvel and DC titles, including the 2008 Black Panther annual; and many more professionals and experts from the comics and cosplay communities. Join our guests for discussions of their work, as well as special topics such as diversity, body image, and comics in Louisiana.

There also will be a cosplay competition for teens and adults. All attendees are invited to cosplay for the event.

For a full schedule of events, list of participating guests, cosplay rules and competition guide, and more information on diversity in comics, please visit the Mid City Micro-Con InfoGuide at www.ebrpl.com, or contact Samantha Belmont at [email protected] or (225) 231-3710.
