Fashion: Going bold with green

St. Patrick’s Day is the perfect day to make all of your friends green with envy about how cute and creative you can get with your outfit.

With parades and parties coming up, you don’t want to be just another person wearing a “Kiss Me I’m Irish” shirt.

There are many ways you can show off your Irish pride with everyone else while keeping your individuality. Besides, who wants to waste money on a piece of clothing you can only wear one day when you can wear something you can also get use out of all year?

Also, because St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Thursday this year, you may need to find something you can wear to work, and then later at a bar or party with friends.

Choose an alternative to the “Kiss Me I’m Irish” shirt

If you just want to wear a t-shirt and jeans to show your spirit, that’s fine. But if you want to get the most wear from your tee, try a shirt with only subtle hints that it’s tied to St. Patrick’s Day.

Locally printed t-shirt company Storyville is great at making seasonal tees that could also be worn year-round.

The company offers some of its popular year-round designs in green for the holiday, and it adds a shamrock to some of the designs. It also offers the famed New Orleans water meter design in the colors of the Irish flag.

By not being over the top St. Patrick’s Day, you can wear it to work and wear it all year without someone thinking you’re trying to celebrate it in May.

Pair a dress with St. Patrick’s Day-inspired accessories

Who says you can’t be cute and girly on St. Patty’s Day? Try a green dress. Dresses are a simple, easy option that can take you from work to the party with no problem.

Accessorize your outfit by adding shamrock-shaped jewelry or a St. Patrick’s Day inspired headband.

Most jewelry stores that cater to a younger crowd will usually have a section of accessories dedicated to the current season.

By keeping the seasonal pieces inexpensive, you won’t have a problem wearing them once and then setting them aside in you jewelry box until next year.

Green Pants

Green pants?! Yes, green pants. Spring is right around the corner so why not take this as the perfect time to grab a pair.

Green pants are a great, fashionable way to celebrate while staying within your job’s dress code.

By adding a blazer and a pair of pumps, flats or booties, you can look presentable around the office or in class without giving away the fact that you might be going out drinking with your friends later.

If you have time between leaving work and meeting up at the bar with your friends, you can change from your blazer to a tee or causal top and a leather jacket for a more relaxed party look.

Green Lipstick

Incorporating the color green doesn’t have to end with just green eye shadow: Try a bold green lipstick. I know this is probably not the most ideal way to change your makeup routine, but hey, at least you could put that green lipstick buried at the bottom of your makeup bag to good use. And who knows, maybe you could start a new trend. For extra staying power, be sure to apply a lip liner beforehand.

So there is no need to fear to have to buy an outfit for St. Patrick’s Day that you can only wear once. Find a piece of green you won’t mind wearing all year long to get more bang for your buck.
