Sept. 10 was National Bootie Day, but do you really need a day to celebrate to the greatness that is a bootie? We shouldn’t assign one day to appreciate the sassiness and versatility of a great bootie. Booties can be worn during the day or at night, dressy or casual. Where ever you plan to party you can find a pair of booties to match your outfit.
Live Music Venues
With the ever-changing artists and parties at music venues like the Varsity Theater the crowd varies from night to night. The best tip for dressing for venues such as these is simply to be fashionable but comfortable. Many music venues can easily be crowded and get hot very quickly on top of possibility of standing or dancing on your feet for a few hours.
Start off with a nice t-shirt or cool tank as the base of your outfit and go from there. The outfit should focus more on layers and accessories to keep cool and comfortable. For example, start off with a tank top that has some kind of visual interest whether it is slightly low cut, a racer back or has some kind of design, print or embellishment. From there choose a simple pair of skinny jeans to allow the top to remain the focal point of the outfit. Complete the outfit with a pair of stud earrings, a short chunky necklace if you are wearing a t-shirt or a long necklace if you are wearing a tank top and layer on the chunky bracelets with to complete the outfit.
To stay comfortable, fashionable and keep people from stepping on your toes while standing up or dancing for hours wear a pair of leather, closed toe booties with a short chunky heel. The durability of the leather will lessen the impact of someone accidentally stepping on your feet while dancing. The short chunky heel will let you look cute while also staying comfortable. They will also allow you to stand on your feet for a long time without feeling like you are trying to keep your balance because nothing is more embarrassing than falling on your butt in front of a large crowd of people.
While bars tend to have more of a laid back feel than a night club, that is no reason to just fall in looking like you stumbled out of bed and straight into the bar. Bars give you a chance to look put together without feeling like you have to go full on glam.
For a quick effortless look, throw on a loose fitting bohemian style dress with a tie waist or a belt to give it shape. Next add a long tassel necklace and a hat to complete the comfortable bohemian look.
To take this outfit from Cochella into fall, add a pair of fun booties with a fringe detail to add to the bohemian look. The fringe will add some more fun and interest to the outfit with each step you take while matching the movement of the tassel necklace and the ease of the dress.
Night clubs can sometimes feel a bit intimidating. Feeling the need to look your very best with sometimes the feeling of it being a competition to look better than the next person. Many night clubs have strict dress code that will require you to dress up more than you would for a music venue or a bar. Some may even require all women to wear heels. Many don’t think of a bootie as being worn for dressier occasions but they can bring a sense of sophistication with a touch of edginess.
The trick to wearing a bootie for a dressier venue is to choose a dress that is simple with its own touch of edginess such as fringe or metal details. You can also go for glamour with a touch of edge by choosing a metallic dress or a dress in a bright neon color. Complete the outfit with simple jewelry so that it does not compete with the details of the dress.
Keeping the dress the star of the show, pair the dress with a simple sleek pair of suede or leather peep-toe booties with a stiletto heel. The stiletto heel and peep-toe gives it the look of a classic high heel.
So don’t be afraid to pair a booties for every outfit. There is a style to match any personality and every outfit and that is a better reason than any to celebrate National Bootie Day everyday.
