2014 was a great year for film in Louisiana, seeing productions such as Pitch Perfect 2, Jurassic World and the Fantastic Four. While the year has come close, Louisiana is still a hot ticket for cinematic features. Wondering what’s next for the Louisiana film and television industry? DIG has the scoop on the first crop of films that will begin production in 2015.
An Upload Films feature film Showing Roots will shoot January 12-31 in Baton Rouge. Set in 1977 North Carolina, an unlikely friendship is forged between Violet and Pearl as they transcend racial barriers while sharing a love of the beauty trade. Starring Elizabeth McGovern.
A 28 Entertainment feature film, which will begin filming January 12 through February 4 in Baton Rouge. Big Life is a film about CJ, a boy forced to join his father on a cross-country haul in the family 18-wheeler, who struggles with a new-found embarrassment of his dad until the wise-beyond-her-years Margo helps him learn to admire his father.
ELVIS & NIXON
A HW Productions feature film, Elvis & Nixon will begin filming January 13 through February 13 in New Orleans. This historical drama has set two-time Oscar winner Kevin Spacey to play President Richard Nixon opposite Oscar nominee Michael Shannon as rock star Elvis Presley. Written by Cary Elwes, Elvis & Nixon centers on the historic 1970 meeting between Presley and the president that produced one of pop culture’s most curious photo ops.
A CBS Studios feature film will shoot from January 26 to late June in New Orleans. The Zoo is a global thriller about a wave of violent animal attacks against humans sweeping the planet.
WHEN THE BOUGH BREAKS
A Screen Gems feature film, When the Bough Breaks will film starting on February 2 for 33 days in New Orleans. When The Bough Breaks follows a professional couple who are unable to conceive their own child and decide to hire a young blue collar woman as a surrogate, before she develops a psychotic fixation on the husband which becomes violent and deadly before the baby is born.
This independent feature film will begin shooting in Baton Rouge from February 16 through March 4.

This Summit feature film will shoot in March 2015 in New Orleans.
