Former band director King says he was fired in part for objecting to how a donation was being spent

Former Tiger Band director Roy King, who was recently fired from LSU, says he was terminated in part because he objected to how the university used a $50,000 donation, The Advocate reports.

King is seeking monetary damages and says a former LSU School of Music dean told him the donation would be used for the marching band, but the dean, Larry Kaptain, wanted the money to go to programs in the School of Music, which King said was not the intent of the donation.

King also said he declined a bribe taken from a portion of the donation, according to The Advocate.
