Graduation grub: Need a graduation dinner spot? Look no further.

LSU students are graduating soon, so that means lots of planning for a good celebration after years of hard work. Most restaurants in Baton Rouge will book up really fast, so DIG came up with a list of places close to campus to choose from.


If you are looking for restaurants that offer international foods, here are some good options:

Superior Grill. $$

Now here’s a great Mexican restaurant with delicious food and the best margaritas! They also have live music on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, along with Happy Hour everyday from 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Superior Grill is located on Government Street. Try the Chicken Blue Corn Stack Enchiladas if you go! Reservations are only needed for parties with ten or more people.

The Velvet Cactus. $$

This high-end Mexican restaurant offers a wide variety of tasty entrees, a great one being the Corona Shrimp Tacos. This restaurant is located on Old Hammond Highway, next to Towne Center.

Gino’s. $$$

This Italian restaurant, located on Bennington Avenue, is not too far from campus and makes an unforgettable Seafood Cannelloni. If you want to eat here, make sure to make a reservation because it will fill up fast.

Juban’s. $$$

Juban’s is located on Perkins Road and is known for their Hallelujah Crab. With many other delicious entrees, Juban’s is a restaurant the whole family will love. If you want to eat here on the night of graduation, make a reservation because it will book up quickly!

The Little Village. $$

The Little Village is not far from campus, located on 3rd Street, and their homemade bread is incredible. A reservation is needed, and they accommodate large parties. With several options to choose from, one of their best entrees is the Veal Parmigiana. This is another great place for the night of graduation.

If you are looking for restaurants that offer vegetarian options, here are some choices:

P.F. Chang’s. $$

P.F. Chang’s is a Chinese restaurant located on Corporate Blvd. and offers vegetarian options, a great one being the Coconut Curry Vegetables. This place is family-friendly and offers a wide range of options that will please everybody. Make sure to make a reservation if you want to go!

This modern Japanese restaurant offers delicious sushi, including several veggie rolls. They have an amazing atmosphere and an incredible view. Tsunami has very limited seating, so make a reservation early if you want to eat here.

The Rum House. $$

The Rum House, located on Perkins Road, is known for their Pain Killers, just one of their several delicious cocktails. The Rum House is a Caribbean restaurant with a unique atmosphere. It is great for a graduation dinner, but make a reservation because it will be packed. Try the Damn Good Nachos; they are incredible!

Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse. $$$

Ruth’s Chris, located on Constitution Avenue, is a high-end steakhouse known for making delicious Blueberry Martinis. Definitely make a reservation, as they will book up quickly. Try their filet and creamed spinach!

If you are looking for restaurants that offer Cajun/seafood style cuisine, consider trying one of these restaurants:

Louisiana Lagniappe. $$$

Located on Perkins Road, Louisiana Lagniappe serves the best seafood entrees. Their Cocodrie is incredible, along with their stuffed bell peppers. Definitely try Louisiana Lagniappe for unique and delicious seafood!

Bonefish Grill. $$

Located in Towne Center, Bonefish Grill offers delectable entrees. If you go, try their Bang Bang Shrimp. Bonefish Grill is close to campus and is family-friendly.
