U.S. Rep. Garrett Graves thinks an overhaul of the current Capital Area Transit System is needed, according to The Greater Baton Rouge Business Report.
At the Press Club of Baton Rouge yesterday, Graves said that money won’t fix CATS’s current problems, and that the system needs to start from scratch in order to be a viable transportation option. He said he’d seen countless empty busses driving around the city, according to The Business Report.
“Ultimately, based on what I’ve seen, I don’t think you can come in and do some minor tweaks around the sides. I think you need to fundamentally start over,” Graves said, according to The Business Report.
At the event, Graves said that CATS spent nearly $2.4 million and only gained about $120,000 back last June.
