Is the era of Hollywood South over? Some movie industry officials and economic developers think so, The News Star reports.
Louisiana Economic Development Secretary Don Pierson said the film industry in Louisiana has “already contracted by 80 percent” since tax credits were capped last year, according to The New Star.
The changes can also be felt on a local level.
“Before now I might have five or six people from the industry come by my shop five times a week,” said Brian Gray, owner of a movie prop supplier in Shreveport, according to The News Star. “But I haven’t seen anybody from the industry since the end of March.”
