Madeline and Dawson Ellis are the husband and wife duo behind Mimosa Handcrafted Jewelry. The style of their home reflects the vibe of their bronze bracelets and necklaces— both are inspired by the region and earthy elements. Items associated with valuable childhood memories for Madeline and Dawson are featured throughout the home that they live in with their two small children, Lily and Charles. When walking through the front door, a sense of youthfulness and comfortable atmosphere is felt as the children play on the second-hand furniture that perfectly compliments the vintage and crafty aspects of the home.
The focal piece of the living room is the fireplace. Originally bricked up and non- functioning, Madeline discovered a creative way to eliminate the bricks. She purchased ceramic tiles handmade by a friend and artist. The tiles were originally meant for a bathroom but have been repurposed in a beautiful way. The blue tiles add a splash of color to the otherwise muted, earthy palette of the living room.
A sunroom featuring a gold ceiling complimented by a vintage green couch and plant life provides a cozy Mid-Century modern-inspired space overlooking the backyard and art studio.
Combinations of old items repurposed or passed down through the family are in every corner of the light, cozy home. Madeline’s grandparent’s Cuckoo clock from Switzerland hangs in the dining room while their lighting fixture hangs in the living room.
A dollhouse made by Madeline’s father when she was a child is now a unique piece found among Lily’s toys.
Madeline’s first drawing from college and one of Dawson’s childhood letters adorn the walls of their bedroom.
