Dig Baton Rouge

Kick some balls in the Red Stick

Red Stick Area Kickball starts its fall league season Tuesday night in Baton Rouge.

The group organizes teams of all skill levels, from casual Little Leaguers to more competitive Classic players.

Members also hang out off the diamond at kickball trivia nights or other social events. League manager Brett Lato said RSAK hosts a special gala each year with awards for league members, and participates in community events like Halloween parades.

“I’m a kickball junkie,” Lato said, “not just for the competitive part but for the social part as well.”

Tuesday and Wednesday night will feature games between more competitive teams, but signups are still open for the more casual and draft leagues. Lato said many players start as free agents before finding their way onto a team, and finding new friends in the process.

Games begin Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. at BREC’s Perkins Road Community Park. You can get more information on signups and league schedules from the Red Stick Area Kickball website or Facebook page, or by emailing BRKickball@gmail.com.
