The Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority is creating a new program to help prevent the risk of floods, The Houma Courier reports.
In the program, buildings with a flood risk of 14 feet or more would be relocated, and homes between 3 feet and 14 feet would simply be elevated, according to the newspaper. Homes with a flood risk of less than 3 feet would be adjusted with new windows, roofs or doors to prepare for floods.
