Andrew Jones arrived at his graduation ceremony ready to walk across the stage, but he was barred from doing so because he had one more item on than the school allowed — facial hair.
The Amite High School valedictorian has not allowed to walk across the stage to accept his diploma because the school district has a policy of no facial hair, WWL-TV reports.
Jones said he had a beard throughout the school year and was never reprimanded for it, according to WWL-TV.
“It don’t make sense, every day of school I went with it, even more, I did shave,” said Jones, according to WWL-TV. “I had like sides and everything, but I shaved that for graduation.”
