Lava Cantina owner takes over several downtown restaurants

Downtown Baton Rouge is getting a restaurant shakeup.

Lava Cantina co-owner Ian Vaughn has taken over Lucy’s Retired Surfers Bar, Schlittz & Giggles and The Roux House, The Advocate reports. The old Lucy’s location is set to become Lava Cantina Downtown Baton Rouge while The Roux House is set to be rebranded as Repeal 33, a reference to the end of Prohibition. The downtown location of Schlittz & Giggles will undergo some renovations, but will still serve pizza.

“I had wanted to get downtown for quite some time,” Vaughn said, according to The Advocate. “It’s a great hot spot. We had an opportunity to expand our businesses and when Perkins Rowe is slow, they’re pretty busy downtown.”
