Les Miles is Louisiana’s highest-paid public employee

Making more than $4 million this season, the “Mad Hatter” appeared on a recent ranking on each state’s highest-paid public employee.

According to a study by 24/7 Wall Street, LSU coach Les Miles is the highest paid public employee in Louisiana, with a salary of $4.39 million this season. The highest paid public employee in nearly every state in the SEC is a college football coach, according to the study.

Meanwhile, Alabama football coach Nick Saban is paid more than $7 million, making him the “highest paid employee of all U.S. workers employed by a local or state government.”

The analysis was conducted using reports of public salaries from state government payrolls and public documents.
