New FBI data shows the murder rate in Louisiana is up from 10.2 in 2014 to 10.3 murders per 100,000 in 2015, Nola.com reports. That data also indicates Louisiana has the highest murder rate per capita in the United States and has since 1989.
It was recently announced that murders throughout the U.S. increased 10.8 percent from 2014 to 2015, making it the largest percentage increase since 1971, according to Nola.com.
