LSU starts new scholarship program for La. residents

LSU will begin offering a new scholarship program, the Louisiana Tiger Legacy Scholarship Program, for the 2017 summer/fall incoming class, according to a University Relations news release. The scholarship was approved by the Board of Supervisors at its October meeting.

The fixed amount scholarship can be awarded to incoming Louisiana resident freshman or transfer students and will be based on academic merit. The awards range from $500 to $1000 annually based on ACT score for incoming freshmen and GPA for transfer students.

“LSU is constantly seeking ways to stay ahead of the competitively marketplace, and to save Louisiana students from being poached by out-of-state colleges,” said LSU President F. King Alexander in the release. “The Louisiana Tiger Legacy Scholarship Program is designed to reconnect with LSU alumni and build loyalty across several generations.”
