LSU’s live mascot diagnosed with cancer

Mike VI, LSU’s live tiger mascot, has been diagnosed with cancer, according to a University Relations news release. Mike has a spindle cell sarcoma, “a malignant tumor derived from fibrous connective tissues of the bone.”

Mike’s treatment plan, made by his veterinarian, David Baker, and specialists around the United States, will consist of “Stereotactic radiotherapy,” a type of radiation.

Mike does not appear to be in pain, according to the news release.
