Bayou Country Superfest is this weekend, and the multi-day concert will bring acts such as Eric Church and Lady Antebellum to LSU’s Tiger Stadium. But Bayou Country Superfest isn’t the only one in the country music festival game.
The concert still has a lot of tickets available, and it’s because country music market is overcrowded, The Advocate reports.
“There is an oversaturation in the market. … You’ve got a festival on every corner,” said Nash FM and Classic Hits 103.3 DJ Scott Innes, according to The Advocate.
Bayou Country Superfest receives taxpayer subsidies, which means Visit Baton Rouge gives the festival $200,000, and Louisiana provides an additional $100,000, according to The Advocate. Visit Baton Rouge president Paul Arrigo said he won’t have numbers as far as festival attendance until after its over, but that the concert has gained a following in the community since its inception seven years ago.
