New Vietnamese café with French and Japanese influences open on Essen

A new restaurant that borrows from several different cuisines has opened in the Universal Plaza.

Ava Street Café, which makes use of Vietnamese, French and Japanese flavors, is owned by Ethan Huynh, whose mother’s recipes are the restaurant’s foundation, according to The Greater Baton Rouge Business Report. The decor and recipes for the restaurant are also inspired by his Japanese restaurant in Houma, Zen Sushi, and his French culinary background.

The café is named for Huynh’s daughter.

“This concept has a lot of meaning for me,” Huynh said, according to The Business Report. “I’m cooking my momma’s food and dedicating it to my daughter.”

Ava Street Café is located at 5207 Essen Lane. READ MORE
