Dig Baton Rouge

Not into hunter orange? Try ‘blaze pink.’

Hunter orange just not your color? You may soon be able to hunt in pink.
Louisiana Rep. Malinda White (D-Bogalusa) proposed House Bill 179, a move to add “blaze pink” to the colors accepted by Louisiana law while hunting wildlife, The Advocate reports. While the bill is not necessarily geared toward women, White hopes it will appeal to women who hunt.

“In my opinion, it would encourage women hunters — young and all — to embrace the outdoors,” White said, according to The Advocate. “Louisiana is a sportswoman’s paradise.”

Right now, hunter orange is the only color Louisiana law requires hunters wear as a safety precaution.
