Former LSU basketball player Ben Simmons was never thrilled with having to spend a year in college due to the NBA’s age restriction for players. He wanted to go straight to the NBA.

Thus is the focus of the new documentary “One & Done,” which follows Simmons’ year at LSU and his journey to the NBA, according to a New York Times report. Simmons was drafted to the Philadelphia 76ers earlier this year.

According to the report, Simmons didn’t see his year at LSU as academically helpful because he planned to leave the university after one year — just enough time to meet the age requirement (age 19) for the NBA. He attended the university mainly because his godfather was an assistant coach.

“One and Done” will air on Nov. 4 at 8 p.m. CST on Showtime.
