The Arts are something many in Baton Rouge feel are being neglected and becoming non-existent. This upcoming event wants to resurrect the urge for the Arts here in the Capital City.
The event, dubbed as a “spectacle of inspiration,” is called The A-8 Experience: A Performance Art Showcase. It will feature a variety of performances. A-8 serves several purposes, such as fundraising, raising awareness for the visual and performance arts in Baton Rouge and brand building, according to a news release.
The funds from the event will also go toward many endeavors, such as multiple scholarships for the students in the field of performance art. They will be based on scholastic achievement, artistic talent and financial needs. Additional revenue will go toward supporting the organization’s overall programming efforts.
The event is being put on by Avery Wilson and the Avery Wilson Foundation. Wilson is a multi-talent consultant that specializes in the spiritual and physical growth of individuals through creative expressions. He believes that right now it is an important time for artists in the world.
“More than ever before, artists must responsibly speak of the times in which he/she lives, and must be compelled to honor his/her truth with an expectation to push society forward,” Wilson said in the news release.
The A-8 Experience also serves as an artistic way to introduce the Avery Wilson Brand to the public. Wilson wants to elevate others with his brand through its eight pillars: motivation, performance art, theatre, dance, cheerleading, pageantry, lifestyle and altruism.
The event’s lineup features a variety of acts and talent from all across the South, including acts from Baton Rouge. Wilson will also take the stage and perform, the release said.
The A-8 Experience: A Performance Art Showcase is on April 24th at 6:00pm. It will be at the Independence Theatre of Baton Rouge. Tickets are $20 and are available of www.eventbrite.com.
