Sgt. Bruce Simmons, one of the officers injured in a shooting a year ago, will soon wear his uniform again.
According to a report from WAFB, the deputy from the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office was cleared by his doctor to return to work. Simmons was shot in his left arm and has recently regained the use of his hand.
“I am gripping. My strength is improving. I did go to the indoor range and shoot with my left hand because that was one of the prerequisites my doctor asked me to do before he would release me to full duty and I was actually surprised at the accuracy I had with this hand,” Simmons said, according to WAFB.
