Grace “Mama” Marino, the woman behind Gino’s Restaurant, has died, according to a Facebook post from the restaurant.

Marino was a large influence in the restaurant. She cooked with and supervised the use of imported cheeses, anchovies, olive oils, tomato products, pasta and herbs at Gino’s, according to the restaurant’s Facebook page.

Marino was recognized for her achievements by the Baton Rouge Epicurean Society, who named her the first recipient of the group’s Lifetime Achievement Award. The award was later named in honor of her.
