Dig Baton Rouge

Retro Fit

By Kaci Yoder

From Woodstock to Coachella, eclectic fashion is a staple of the music festival experience. Somewhere between functional and experimental you’ll find the sweet spot of festival looks, and it takes an out-there outfitter to pin down the perfect combination.

DIG reached out to the city’s premier vintage boutique, Time Warp, to give us their best styling tips for your summer music adventure, whether you make the 12-hour drive to Wakarusa or keep it close to home with Bayou Country Super Fest. Time Warp brand ambassador Ashley Monaghan and owner Joshua Holder pulled their favorite pieces for a weekend in the sun with the perfect throwback vibes.

“Everyone wears the typical fringe, Birkenstocks, and overalls to festivals,” Monaghan said. “We wanted to be a bit more original, and take festival fashion to the next level with funky, statement pieces.”

AM: “Sophia is wearing one of my favorite dresses—it’s feminine and super ‘60s, and it has such a fun print. This is a statement dress, so accessories can be color-coordinated or totally crazy. It all depends on how daring you’re feeling!”

LOOK 2 BAM: “Jade is wearing an item that every girl should have in their closet: high-waisted denim cutoffs. We added an embroidered bandeau, amazing vintage, and leather boots and opted for a more delicate, lace duster rather than your typical fringe.”

LOOK 3 BAM: “Caroline’s outfit is killer. If you’re tall, or if you’d like more height, go with flared denim or an unhemmed culotte. To add an unexpected hint of sexy, we added an embroidered, cropped jacket. With this outfit, feel free to layer with your jewelry.”
