Rocca Pizzeria brings the heat to Mid-City

With brick oven pizzas and a full service cocktail bar, Rocca’s Pizzeria is all in for the up-and-coming Mid-City Revival.

We had the pleasure of trying out some of the delicious items that Rocca has to offer before their Grand Opening on Thursday and we’ve got the scoop here for you.

For starters we had the meatballs and garlic knots.

 

 

 

The Italian meatballs were over a bed of polenta and topped with red sauce. The creamy polenta was a surprising change from the usual pasta or bread, and we were all for it.

 

 

 

….And then there were garlic knots.

Take Rocca’s delicious pizza dough, fry it and top with garlic butter. Doesn’t get much better than that! This app can EASILY feed 4 people and was probably our favorite thing on the menu (drools). Bonus: comes with a side of whipped provolone for dipping.

 

 

 

For an entree, we went with the Mr. Piggy pizza recommended by our server, which did not disappoint. The handmade pizza was topped with mortadella, sausage, bacon, roast pork and mozzarella. Throw this beast in a brick oven and VOILA.

Service was quick and friendly and the atmosphere was fun and relaxing. Make sure to check out the gorgeous tiled oven tucked back in the open kitchen. Overall, it was a great lunch and we’re definitely headed back soon! We can’t wait to see Rocca’s success in Mid-City.
