Rouses wants to move Izzo’s legal battle to federal court

In April, the parent company of Izzo’s Illegal Burrito, K&F Restaurant Holdings Ltd., filed a lawsuit against the parent company of Rouses Supermarket, Rouses Enterprises, LLC. Now, Rouses wants to move the battle to federal court. The company’s attorneys filed a notice of removal in the 19th Judicial District Court, according to The Greater Baton Rouge Business Report. In the suit, Izzo’s claims that Rouses executives tried to keep them out of Baton Rouge developments, which may have stemmed from a previous feud, according to The Business Report.

Rouses attorneys have filed for the suit to be moved to the U.S. District Court of the Middle District in Baton Rouge, but Izzo’s co-owner Ozzie Fernandez said the proposed move is pending, according to The Business Report. The filings say this request for a move is due to Izzo’s claims falling under state and federal law.
