Sharon Weston Broome was sworn in as Baton Rouge’s new mayor-president last night at the Raising Cane’s River Center, WAFB reports. After she took the oath of office, she made a speech that including some of the key causes she’ll fight for as mayor-president. Among those causes were flood recovery and Baton Rouge traffic.
Broome will work with state and federal partners to tackle these problems. She said she’s committed to following through with the promises she made during campaign season.
“Allow me to put you on notice,” she said, according to WAFB. “I will not be perfect but I will always be honest and give my best effort.”
