Taylor Made: Styled and Taylored creator talks travel, home in Louisiana

Styled and Taylored creator Hayley Taylor feels most at home hundreds of miles north, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t a southern belle at heart. Her website features her thoughts on style, travel and lifestyle. We chatted with Hayley via email about her love for The Big Apple, her life in Louisiana and her plans for the future.

If you had to describe your blog to someone who’d never seen it, what would you say?
On Styled and Taylored you can find personally styled and affordable outfits for any occasion along with links to purchase them.  I often post examples on how to wear the newest trends and fit them into your existing wardrobe.  I also talk about my latest obsessions as far as beauty items, TV shows, and fitness tips.

Describe your style in three words.
Feminine, edgy, minimal.

Your social media channels and website say you’re “currently living in Louisiana (and dreaming of the day I move to NYC).” Why New York?
I took my first trip to New York 10 years ago and immediately fell in love with the city.  It has this immense energy that just makes you feel like you can accomplish anything.  A few years ago my husband and I were married in Central Park. Because of that, NYC just holds so many wonderful memories and sentiments.  I feel like I’m truly in my element when I’m there.

How has your experience in Louisiana shaped you in terms of beauty and style?
I definitely have the southern belle mentality that it’s never okay to leave the house without makeup on.  If I absolutely have to, I’ll cover my face with huge sunnies and put on lipstick.  I’m the same way with clothing.  I could potentially wear a uniform polo to work daily, but I just don’t feel quite right unless I’m in a dress and heels.

What’s the best place to shop in Baton Rouge?
Hey Penelope-  She has such a versatile selection that could potentially fit in with anyone’s taste.

Are you planning any projects for the future?
I am dying to make it to NYFW in the fall.  So currently I am working on getting a few things together for that, but nothing is set in stone yet.

Is there a woman in your family who inspired you in terms of beauty and style?
My sister and I spent a ton of time playing dress up when we were younger, and we still shop together pretty often.  She is the one person I can really count on to tell me if a look is just not working for me.  Recently she has been taking most of my photos too, and I can definitely see a difference in them just because I am so comfortable working with her.

What’s your best style advice?
If you like it, wear it.  Wearing something that you feel confident in can really make you stand out. When you feel good in what you’re wearing, that confidence radiates.

What’s the most prized piece in your wardrobe?
I don’t really have a particular prized piece.  I am pretty attached to all of my coats though.  Winter is my favorite season, and there’s something so chic about a long winter coat.

What’s the one makeup or skincare product you can’t get enough of?
Sunblock.  It’s just so important to protect your skin.

You have a large travel section on your blog. Where will your next adventure take you?
I have a few Florida beach trips coming up this summer.  We are also planning a resort trip to celebrate my next birthday, and of course, I’ll be blogging about all of it.
