The 400-year-old heart of a saint visits Louisiana

St. John Berchmans’ 400-year-old heart arrived in Louisiana today, the only time its left Belgium, The Shreveport Times reports. The relic arrived at Shreveport’s St. John Berchmans, named after the saint, on Dec. 8.

The heart, which is encased in a reliquary, will be in Shreveport until Dec. 18, according to The Shreveport Times.

After that, the heart will travel to Grand Coteau for the anniversary of Berchmans’ post-life miracle, when an ill woman said he appeared to her and cured her.
