The Dish: Leroy’s Burger

As a Southern girl, I know good food, and I won’t waste calories on just anything. My taste bud explorations have led me to some phenomenal food in the Capital City, but there is one tasty treat that I come back for every week: the Leroy’s Burger. Leroy’s may be known for their fried chicken and unique beer shakes, but despite my best intentions to order other menu items, I always find myself coming back to the Burger. Let me tell you what this monster looks like. I get the double stack, a mountain of sirloin – it’s basically a steak burger – and I always add cheese (this is a must!). These thick, juicy patties are sandwiched between two Hawaiian sweet buttered buns. Is your mouth watering yet? It comes fully dressed with to-die-for sweet pickles that add a nice crunch. I cleanse my pallet after every bite with their house fries dipped in ranch dressing. I’m a snob about ranch, and I am telling you this is nectar of the gods. I finish this whole meal in about a minute flat, and that’s only because my mouth isn’t big enough to eat it in one bite. You need to try this burger, so go to Leroy’s any day during the week between 11am until 10pm, or even bust in their doors after an LSU game. Right in the shadow of Tiger Stadium on Nicholson Drive, they are open late after games, and we all know you need to eat after a long day of tailgating.
