Reginelli’s Northgate has a new menu with a modern, mobile-friendly look, featuring pizza-by-the-slice and mini-bolis. After using my smartphone to scan the new options, I decided to keep it classic with the Classic Combo. This pizza has the premium version of the toppings you are used to on a supreme pizza. It all starts with the hand-tossed crust that is skillfully crafted to be crispy on the bite and soft in the mouth. A thin layer of marinara is swept onto the dough, followed by pepperoni, Italian sausages, green peppers, onions, black olives, mushrooms, all covered in mozzarella. In college, a waiter once suggested I add goat cheese to the mix, and four slices later, I understood why. The goat cheese brings a creamy texture that perfectly balances the saltiness of the pepperoni and sausage. Goat cheese isn’t everyone’s kick, but I am a cheese snob, so I say the more, the merrier! No need to try just one kind of pizza, though – I went Classic, but you can mix and match the hand-tossed specialty pizzas by doing half and half – or, as the new Northgate menu says, by the slice.
