For some, sushi might not satisfy the demands of Southern cuisine. That’s where Tsunami’s “Big Easy” rolls come in.
The Big Easy rolls are loaded with crawfish, snow crab, kani, shrimp tempura, scallion and a sweet mixture of spicy and savory sauces – all deep fried, of course. This makes it difficult to say whether the rolls actually qualify as sushi or if it’s just Southern cooking in disguise. Unlike most sushi rolls that can be devoured in a single bite, the Big Easy rolls might take two or three. And with four rolls per serving, it’s more than enough.
Though the price is a little steep, Tsunami’s incredible view of the Mississippi River from the sixth floor of the Shaw Center for the Arts makes up for it, as do the delicious Big Easys. Go at sunset; you won’t regret it.
