The One with Trivia

By Tara Bennett

After great success with the Seinfeld Happy Hour, the Manship Theatre will host another happy hour, this time celebrating 20 years of the beloved sitcom “Friends.”

“[Seinfeld was] a huge success, and it’s something we’re going to continue doing with favorite TV shows,” said Jason Langlois, head of film programming at the Manship. “Each time will be a different classic television show that everyone knows and loves.”

The event will feature four fan-requested episodes on a large projection screen along with Friends trivia hosted by Let’s Get Quizzical Trivia. The happy hour will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 3 in the Hartley/Vey Studio Theatre at 6 p.m.

“It’s a different kind of happy hour than what you see normally,” said Langlois.

Admission to the event is free, but reservations are encouraged if you would like to take advantage of the recent addition to the happy hour.

“This time we’re adding a food option,” said Langlois. “It’s a free event, but if you do want to register ahead of time for some food from Capitol City Grill you can at our box office.”

All menu items will be $12 and include your choice of a cheeseburger, chicken melt, chicken fingers, house salad or Greek pasta. The food will be delivered prior to the event with your name written on the box for easy pickup.

The setup will be similar to the way it was done during the Seinfeld Happy Hour where the audience will be tested on Friends trivia during the commercial breaks in each episode. Those who wish to compete in the trivia competition are allowed to form teams or participate by themselves. Winners will be able to receive prizes such as tickets to future Manship events and gift cards. Door prizes will be awarded to people dressed in costume, and according to Langlois there will be exclusive Friends-themed drink specials.

“There’s a lot of references in the show that we have to explore,” said Langlois. “So we’ll try to cover all the best ones.”

Currently, the episodes have not been selected. Langlois encourages everyone to visit the Manship’s Facebook page at facebook.com/ManshipTheatre to cast their vote for which episode they would like to watch. To reserve tickets, call 225-344-0334.
