For the first time since 1995, emu chicks have hatched at the Baton Rouge Zoo, The Advocate reports. The three chicks are in the KidsZoo barn, and when they’re older, they’ll move in with their parents in the adult emu exhibit.
“Emus are a really fun species to watch when they’re this young,” bird curator Lee Schoen said in a news release, according to The Advocate. “In addition to the way they come into the world, which is by hatching out of a large, dark teal-colored egg, they are quite active.”
