As the public relations team lead coordinator for Oneofakind Baton Rouge Fashion Week, it’s is no surprise that Glynna Mayer’s style is classic, but fashion-forward. With a tall, modelesque frame, she can wear almost any ensemble and look as though she stepped off of a runway. Glynna shares a few insights about her personal style, and tells us how she dresses for Oneofakind Baton Rouge Fashion Week.
DIG: What is an item in your closet that you cannot live without?
Glynna Mayers: If I had to narrow it down, I would say I couldn’t live without my skinny jeans. I can pair them with a dressy top and heels, or with sandals and a casual top, and still look put together.
DIG: Which items in your wardrobe do you find yourself wearing most often?
GM: Dresses are my go-to for any event. No matter the style, color, pattern, I can always layer with a blazer or cardigan, or pair it with a great statement necklace and clutch, then head out the door. During the fall/winter, a dress or skirt with tights and boots are almost my everyday look. I have also found myself wearing a Banana Republic denim button-up shirt very often, as well. It is an easy piece that I can layer and pair with other pieces. And it’s denim- who doesn’t love that.
DIG: How would you describe your personal style?
GM: I would say my personal style is trendy-classic. I look for classic clean pieces that won’t go out of style, but I can dress up, dress down and even mix with on trend items. I love to mix patterns and fabrics while pushing the fashion limits. I like to be comfortable and have my look seem effortless, when really it took me forever to put it together.
DIG: Where or Who do you look for style inspiration?
GM: Being in the fashion industry, I feel I look for what’s in style. I do follow local and international blogs and designers to check out what others are wearing, but I really gain my inspiration from those here in Baton Rouge. I am always looking at what others are wearing, and many times when I see an outfit, I think “I’ve never thought of mixing that with that,” or “that’s new, and I’m into it.” Then, my imagination goes crazy, thinking of how I can incorporate the look or idea into my wardrobe and personal style, and make it mine.
DIG: How do you dress for Oneofakind Baton Rouge Fashion Week?
GM: I think Fashion Week gives an opportunity for everyone to try out his or her most fashion forward outfits. Everyone has the same appreciation for the industry and field, and I feel there are no limits. This year, for myself, it is about being−what I considered− streamlined and chic. My apparel will be booties with either black leather skinny bottoms, or black jeggings and neural colored tops with accent pieces.
