Between tailgating and all of the outdoor activities Baton Rouge has to offer, the city is packed with beer. There are even several local breweries that celebrate the brews the capital city has to offer. But many of us are wine drinkers, and it can be more difficult to find a spot to sip a good red or white. We rounded up a few places in the Baton Rouge area that do it right.
10111 Perkins Rowe #160
Bin 77 is split up into Bin 77 Bistro & Wine and Bin 77 Sidebar, and both sections offer large wine selections. With a cozy vibe and an option of a restaurant or bar, this could be a great potential date spot.
Lock and Key Whiskey Bar
5110 Corporate Blvd
Yeah, whiskey is in the name and the bar has more than 240 varieties to offer, but it also carries an impressive wine selection. If you’re with a group that likes whiskey, you’ll be able to find something suitable for a wine drinker here as well.
*Lock and Key recently on Corporate Boulevard after this issue went to print, but owners are currently looking for a new location.
304 Laurel St #1B
In addition to the array of wines the spot has to offer, Blend also sometimes has wine dinners, like its recent Halloween wine dinner, so you can sample wines with food. This will help you learn how to pair wine with food, which all wine drinkers know is a valuable skill.
7321 Corporate Blvd.
With more than 100 wines to choose from by the glass, Fleming’s is good if you like a wine variety. So if you like both red and white, and you’re eager to try a new blend, this may be the ticket.
Wine Walk Wednesday
Downtown Baton Rouge
It’s worth mentioning that through this weekly event, you can try wine at several downtown locations for just $10. With a rotating lineup and a host of other wine drinkers to compare notes with, this may be a wine lover’s dream. Wine Walk Wednesday starts at 5:30 p.m. every week.
