Nino’s Brings ‘Farm Fresh’ Italian Food to Baton Rouge
While Nino’s Baton Rouge has been a local staple for 20 years, owners Shannon and Jason Lopez bought the restaurant last July after a delicious date night meal sparked an idea between the two. The “fresh everything” eatery prides itself on its farm-to-table approach, offering guests an unforgettable experience that goes beyond just food.
DIG sat down with business owner Shannon Lopez to discuss Nino’s Restaurant Week backstory and her passion behind the well-known Baton Rouge restaurant.
The couple has held space in the restaurant business for quite some time. After purchasing Nino’s in July, DIG’s Restaurant Week was a great opportunity for their reintroduction to the community.
“When we were approached to do Restaurant Week, for us, it was a really great opportunity to reintroduce ourselves to the community,” said owner Shannon Lopez. “We felt like Baton Rouge had either forgotten Nino’s was there or never knew it was there. With Restaurant Week, we knew it would drive a lot of new faces into the building.”

Restaurant Week didn’t just bring in new business– It also created relationships and fostered new memories for people coming in and ordering from the specially curated menu.
Nino’s is looking to give people the same experience on a much bigger scale this Restaurant Week.
“Memories are all we have at the end, and we get to play a very pivotal part in allowing people to create those memories. And, they might not remember what they ate or their server’s name, but they will remember the moment and how they felt,” said Lopez.
The hidden gem hasn’t solidified anything for their Restaurant Week menu yet, but they did do a blind dinner recently with Eat the Boot, which had a few menu items they are thinking of adding to their lineup for people to try during our biannual event.
Nino’s is located at 7512 Bluebonnet Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA., 70810.
