Third Street has no shortage of places to grab a drink, but few of them keep the fryer going past midnight on a weekend. Danny's Dive Bar & Grill, at 151 3rd St. in downtown Baton Rouge, keeps its menu simple: almost everything costs the same.
One Price, Most of the Menu
The sandwiches and mains on Danny's menu are $15 each, and every sandwich comes with fries. A few picks:
The Sunshine Burger with cheddar, house-made pickles and the bar's Love Sauce
Mom's Blackened Catfish Poboy with jalapeño and pepper jelly
Donald Earl's Pork Chop Sandwich, two fried chops with collard greens
Danny's Loaded Fried Okra and Julio's Whole Wings, smoked then fried
Sauces are made in house, with ketchup the stated exception.
$10 Daily Plates
A rotating $10 daily special covers the week: red beans with fried pork chops on Monday, a Mexican-style plate Tuesday, BBQ Wednesday, smothered chicken Thursday, meatloaf Friday, pot roast Saturday and spaghetti and meatballs Sunday. A three-soup flight with toasted bread, rotating daily, is also $10.
Happy Hour and Late Hours
Happy hour runs Monday through Friday, 5 to 7 p.m., with half-price bottles of wine, 2-for-1 cocktails, a two-beer deal and discounted appetizers. The bar is open 11 a.m. to midnight Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday. The kitchen closes at 11 p.m. on weeknights and 1 a.m. on weekends. Evenings may bring acoustic music, though the bar itself notes that depends on the musician showing up.
Good to Know
Danny's doesn't take phone-in orders. For holiday parties or birthdays, the bar books private events at (225) 505-8733. Downtown parking info is available through the Downtown Development District.
