Siegen Lane has a new dumpling kitchen with a stubborn motto: do one thing, do well. Dumpling & Bao opened its Baton Rouge flagship at 6212 Siegen Lane, Suite A, founded by Kat Zhao and Jona Chen, two entrepreneurs who spent more than three months training in Shanghai, Beijing, Hangzhou and Guangzhou before bringing the recipes home.

The founders say they lived in the local community for more than 15 years and wanted Chinese comfort food that is not Westernized takeout theater. Soup dumplings, steamed bao and northern-style handmade dumplings sit at the center of that promise, with classic Chinese dishes around them.

Where to find them

The official location page lists the Siegen shop Monday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Online ordering runs through order.dumplingandbao.com, and the brand also lists a Crowley dining room plus a second Baton Rouge address at 9669 Antioch Road for anyone watching the expansion.

Why it fits Baton Rouge right now

Zhao and Chen frame the kitchen as handcrafted dough work learned from chefs with more than two decades of experience. That is the story they want you to taste in the steamer baskets: traditional technique, local hometown pride and a menu built for every age at the table. Established in 2025, the brand is still young, which makes the Siegen flagship feel like an opening chapter rather than a finished chain playbook.

Pull into Suite A on Siegen when you want dumplings that still feel like somebody folded them for you.
