Saturday, Oct. 24, might be the most Baton Rouge day on the October calendar. There's fall fun, an early LSU kickoff and a big show downtown, and you can fit all three in one day. Here's how.
11 a.m.: Tigers on TV
LSU plays at Auburn at 11 a.m. Central. Start your day with a big breakfast and a seat on the couch or at a friend's. An early road game means you get the rest of the day back.
2:30 p.m.: Get lost at Burden
Once the game ends, head to the Corn Maze at Burden, 4560 Essen Lane. The afternoon session runs from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. and includes the maze, hayrides, the pumpkin patch and the petting farm. Tickets are $17.50 for ages 13 and up and $15 for kids ages 3–12. Buy them ahead of time, because they aren't sold at the gate. If overtime runs long, don't worry. Burden has another maze weekend on Oct. 30 and 31.
Late afternoon: Recharge
Go home, clean the hay off your shoes and give yourself some downtime. A nap counts as part of the itinerary.
Early evening: Dinner downtown
Head downtown early and eat near the theater. Little Village has a location at 447 Third Street, a few blocks from the River Center. Saturday crowds pick up before showtime, so give yourself a cushion.
Evening: Clue – Live On Stage
The board game comes to life at the Raising Cane's River Center Theatre, 275 St. Louis Street. Check your ticket for the start time, then spend intermission trying to guess who did it.
If you're still up
Walk the riverfront before you head home. Downtown on a cool October night is worth the extra few minutes.
Pick and choose what works for your crew. The point is to spend one whole day enjoying Baton Rouge in the fall.
