The Christmas lists are getting longer, and Perkins Rowe has a plan for that. The Bluebonnet-area shopping district has posted its holiday calendar, and a good chunk of it costs nothing more than a trip to Town Square.

Pictures with Santa

Santa arrives Friday, Nov. 27, and stays through Christmas Eve. You'll find him in front of Cinemark for photos. Pets are welcome, too.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturdays and noon to 6 p.m. on Sundays. On Christmas Eve, Santa is in from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Reservations are strongly encouraged through the Perkins Rowe website, though walk-ups are taken when there's room.

A few themed sessions are worth circling:

Pet Night with Santa, Nov. 30 and Dec. 7, 4 to 7 p.m.

Sensory Santa, Dec. 6, 9:30 to 11 a.m.

Purple & Gold Night, Dec. 8, 4 to 7 p.m.

Blue & Gold Night, Dec. 9, 4 to 7 p.m.

Santa Rocks the Rowe, Dec. 12, 5 to 8 p.m.

PJ Night, Dec. 15, 4 to 7 p.m.

Tuba Christmas

On Sunday, Dec. 6, at 3 p.m., the third annual Tuba Christmas fills the area around the Christmas tree in Town Square with holiday carols played the low-brass way. If it rains, the concert moves to the Great Hall near the Santa set.

Look up

The Baton Rouge Astronomical Society brings telescopes to Town Square for Sidewalk Astronomy on Nov. 17 and Dec. 15, from 6 to 9 p.m. Weather and clouds can cancel a night on short notice, so check Perkins Rowe's posts before heading out.

Getting there

Perkins Rowe is at 10000 Perkins Rowe. Both parking garages, behind Cinemark and under The Fresh Market, are free.

Pair a Santa visit with dinner or a movie, and you've got an easy December night out.
